Here's the essential trick, as it seems to your spectators. You hold a ordinary deck of cards, and fan it out, like they would suppose. Then you order them to select a card, any card. They select card, and you tell them to study it cautiously, and display it to their friends. After they place it back in the deck, you mysteriously pluck it right out. They will be amazed, and think you have powerful telepathic powers.
Here's how to do the ploy. While they are busily learning their card, you part the deck, and make a place for them to put their card. All you need to do is take a quick peak at the card that you will rest on top of theirs. Just memorize this card, and once they place there's in the deck, you'll know exactly what card comes after. There are numerous ways to reveal this trick.
The most obvious way is to simply pretend you are reading their mind while looking through the cards. Then when you get to there's (which is next to the one you peaked at), you only pull it out. This alone will worth the price of admission. But hang around, there's more.
You can hunt through the deck, pretending to look for it. Once you get to there card, separate and re stack the deck so their card is on top. Then place the deck face down on a bench, say some captivating expressions, tap the top, and there card will be on top. But wait, that's not all, there's one more potent reveal.
Once you have their card on top, place the deck behind your back, or under the table. Then immediately take their card out, flip it over, and place it back in the deck, so it's facing the contradictory direction of all the other cards. Then imagine that you can't guess their card, and get them to tell you which one it was. Then simply look through the deck, now with the cards face up, and there's will be the only card that is face down. This is only a few ways to reveal their card, I'm sure you can consider of many others. The more you can talk up your psychic powers of presumption before this trick, the better. The Tremendous Cards That You Can’t Mix Up
Here is a simple to learn magic trick that is considered a self working trick. This means that you don't need to learn any sleight of hand or special gimmicks to get this trick to work. This is a great trick to use with kids, or adults or anyone that likes to see some goofy magic.
Here's how the deception looks to your shocked observers. You have all the cards of the same suit taken out of the deck. So you've got all the hearts, or clubs, or whatever. Have them arranged in order, starting from the ace, and ending with the king. If you are doing this with children, you can even have them set the deck up for them.
After you've got it set up, then you go through the deck once, showing them all that they are definitely in order, beginning from the ace, and ending at the king. If you like you can offer them the short stack and have them check for themselves to make sure there is nothing odd going on.
Then clarify the secret to them. You have the stack face down. If they say "deal," then you take one card off the top, and place it face down on the board, in a new stack. If they say "double deal" then you take two cards off the top, reverse the order and then place them face down in the same stack. Do this until you've gone through all the cards. Tell them that they have to remember the new order that the cards are in. While they are busily trying to re analyze the order, you pick up the new stack, and begin to turn each card over one by one. They will be surprised to see that the cards are still in the same order, starting from the ace, up to the king.
Most frequently, they will ask you to do it again, and again. And the cool part is, since this is a self working trick, they can do it themselves and it will still work. The reason it works should be obvious once you do this a few times. If you take only one card off the top, and place it in the new stack, (deal), or take two cards, and reverse the order, placing them in the new stack (double deal) they still end up in the same order, no matter if you deal or double deal them. To perceive how this works, do the trick with all the cards facing up, and you'll see how it works out.
This is incredible for kids of all ages, and a lot of of them will never deduce how it works even after they do the trick themselves. Of course, you'll intermittently run into a young theorist or natural mathematician who'll see right through this trick and comprehend how it's down. These lighters are generally very clean-burning and will produce little residue when used. However, one must still endeavor to keep the flame jets clean and, most importantly, one must ensure that they're free of any obstruction when the lighter is sparked.
The flame jets are generally recessed a bit into the lighter. To clean them if they become obstructed, it's preferable to first attempt to tap out the obstruction by rapping the inverted lighter very softly on a hard surface. Make certain not to do this so hard that the finish becomes damaged. Chrome finishes and plastic finishes are very durable but tapping them too hard can result in dents and nicks. If the obstruction is still present after doing this, one may attempt to remove it"very carefully"with a bit of wire or a wooden toothpick. If something becomes deeply-lodged in the jet, it may be possible to blow it out by opening the fuel valve a bit without actually tripping the igniter device.
On an electric lighter, the obstruction can usually be removed by tapping or by pulling the obstruction out with a pair of tweezers or a straightened-out paperclip or other pick type device.
